Maya Prass

"Inspired by life," is how Maya Prass explains her muse. Maya provides beautiful, feminine and wearable clothing, using her favourite tools - colour and print. All prints are designed in collaboration with local textile artists or designers and hand-printed locally. Each collection tells a story, with extensive research done on different themes before the collection is conceptualised.

The label was established locally in 2000, after Maya won the Fairlady Young Designer award in 1999. Since its inception, the label has grown to supply a number of boutiques around South Africa. In 2005 Maya Prass was awarded the Fairlady Catharine Award.

Maya Prass has built a strong reputation in South Africa for her approach to womenswear that matches creativity with wearability. Having made the transition from emerging talent to established designer in recent years she continues to impress local fashionistas with her flair for prints, colour and progressive silhouettes.

Maya lives and works in Cape Town, from where she runs two clothing lines - the signature Maya Prass Clothing Range and a diffusion range in collaboration with Woolworths.
